We meet on the third Saturday of every month except in July, August and December. Please enter through the east door on Fairfax. Also, feel free to bring your friends to our meetings, and remember to always wear your nametag! If you are wearing your nametag and your sign-in number is called, you will win $5.00!
NOVEMBER PROGRAM: Evelyn Lail will talk to us about layering. Evelyn is an excellent artist and a member of many art clubs in this area. This should be a most interesting program.
OCTOBER PROGRAM: Steve Tracy gave us a fine critique and he also talked to us about marketing our art. Steve teaches at teh Art Student's League and will be teaching at Foothills Art Center in November. Call the Art Center for more information about his class.
REFRESHMENTS: Helen Buznedo and Marion Wright will do refreshments for the November meeting. We will not have a General Meeting in December but we will have a holiday party.
HOLIDAY PARTY: Our party this year will be at 1 p.m. on Sunday December 7th at Ann and Ron Hanscom's house. We will have a potluck, and at the November General Meeting we will be passing around a sign-up sheet for food. We will need desserts, salads, vegetables, appetizers, bread and butter. Turkey and ham will be supplied and we will ask for a small donation for the meat. Also please bring a wrapped, small, non-religious art object for the Chinese auction. The auction gift should not cost more than $5.00.
EXHIBITS: The Driscoll Show at D.U. was a beautiful show. Eighteen artist brought work, and there were 41 paintings. Pat Fostvedt was the juror and she gave out the ribbons she critiqued all of the work in the show. Laveryn Talmage, out Exhibits Chairman, is looking at Littleton Town Hall for our next show.
MEMBER NEWS: We have a new member: Mary Beth Kreizel. Welcome!
FUTURE PROGRAMS: We have some interesting programs coming up. Anne Martinez will do a flower demo in January; Pat Fostvedt will give us a critique in February; and Peggy Atkinson will do a night scene demo in March. We do not have programs yet for April and May, but we will have our White Elephant sale in June.
LOOKING INTO THE FUTURE: in 2012 DAAG will have its 50th anniversary and we need to celebrate big time! Please put on your thinking caps about how we can celebrate this most momentus occasion!
WORKSHOP: We have been hearing from Yelena Sedova who is now back in town. She is the Russian artist who paints on silk, and recently she did a demo for us. She is willing to do a silk painting workshop for $60.00 per person, and that would include the demonstration and supply kit. If you are interested, please talk with Ann Hanscom.
MEMBER NEWS: There is some sad news to report. Our long-time member and friend Rachel Neubauer passed away October 23rd. Her funeral will be November 8th at 10:00 at Grace United Methodist Church. We will miss Rachel so very much.
Thelma Gash sold a painting at Columbine Methodist Church in Littleton. Adeline Diehl and Carol Reeves are moving out of state. Ann Hanscom has a show at Gallery 821. The address is 821 Santa Fe Drive, and her work will be hanging there from November 6th to November 15th.
