GENERAL MEETING: This is the beginning of the 48th year of the Denver Allied Arts Guild! Our General Meeting will be on January 17, 2009 at 9:30 a.m. at Augustana Lutheran Church, 5000 E. Alameda Avenue. We will meet on the third Saturday of every month except July, August and December. Enter through the east door on Fairfax Street and we will be at the end of the hall in the big room. Members, please bring friends to our meetings and remember to wear your nametag, you will win $5.00.

DECEMBER PROGRAM: We had a beautiful holiday party at Ann and Ron Hanscom's house, and thirty members and friends came. Thank you, Ann and Ron, for such a nice party.

JANUARY PROGRAM: Ann Martinez is going to give us a watercolor demonstration. Ann is a member of the Colorado Watercolor Society, and she is well known for her beautiful floral paintings. Please don't miss this meeting.

REFRESHMENTS: Joyce Madden and Thelma Gash will bring refreshments for January, and Dorothy Petet and Marcia Williams will bring them for February.

EXHIBITS: At present we don't have any exhibits scheduled for the Guild, but our Chairman is working on some places to show, and we will let you know about that when we have more information.

NOTE: Friends of Joyce Madden's have sent us a donation to be used for our next all-member exhibit. We are extremely appreciative of this most generous donation.

MEMBER NEWS: Roland Jones has an ongoing show at 742 S. Santa Fe Drive. Helen Buznedo sold a painting at the Wellshire Inn.

NEW EXHIBIT AREA FOR DAAG MEMBERS: Liz Gardner, a friend of Ann Hanscom, has a convention display business called ExhibitPRO International, and she would like some of our framed pieces to show in her work place. Liz Graham's office is located at 6835 S. Dayton Street in Greenwood Village. If you are interested in showing your work there, please call Liz at (720) 529-9939 to make arrangements. Roland Jones is showing there a present, and will be there through February, so the next opportunity to show will be in March.

WEBSITE: We have a beautiful website, DAAGonline.com, and we are hoping every member will submit their work to show on the computer. Call our webmaster, Karl Johnson to find out how to do it, or call Joyce Madden.

THOUGHT FOR THE NEW YEAR:

Hold on to what is ood even if it is

a handful of earth.

Hold on to what you believe in even if it is

a tree which stands by itself.

Hold on to what you must do even if it is

a long way from here.

Hold on to my hand even when

I have gone away from you.
