GENERAL MEETING: Happy New Year and welcome to the first General Meeting of the Denver Allied Arts Guild of the year 2010! This is our 48th year as an art guild! Our General Meeting will be on January 16th, 2010 at 9:30 a.m. at Augustana Lutheran Church, 5000 East Alameda Avenue, on the corner of East Alameda and South Fairfax in Denver. We meet on the third Saturday of every month except July, August, and December. Come in the east door on Fairfax Street. and you will find us in the big room at the end of the hall. Members please bring friends to our meetings and remember to wear your nametag! If your sign-in number is called and you are wearing your nametag, you will win $5.00!

NOTE: The Board will meet immediately after the General Meeting.

DECEMBER PROGRAM: We did not have a general meeting in December. Instead we went to Ann and Ron Hanscom’s house for a holiday potluck, and it was a fine occasion with delicious food and a gift exchange. Twenty six members and friends attended, and we had a wonderful time.

JANUARY PROGRAM: We will have an a la prima oil painting demonstration by Victoria Kwazinski. She is an excellent artist and well known for her beautiful work.

FEBRUARY PROGRAM: Evelyn Martinez will do a critique for us. Please bring one unframed painting per member.

PLANNED PROGRAMS: We have some interesting programs coming up. In March we will have Joel Cook who will do a portrait, and in April we might have Jill Soukup, but that has not been finalized. In June we always have our White Elephant sale, which is most interesting!!

SSSSSSSSHHHHH!!! Please let us be quiet during our demos and critiques. Our talking is disturbing to our guest artists. Thank you.

EXHIBITS: We took the Littleton Art Show down on January 4th. Thanks so much to Judy Wroblewski for managing this show. Our next exhibit will be at Montview Presbyterian Church in Denver. We will hang on Saturday, March 13th at 9:00 a.m. and take down on Monday, May 17th at noon. There will be no juror. Lynda Klingman will manage this art show. Watch the newsletter for more information on this important show.

REFRESHMENTS: Dick Lutz and Pat Newell will bring refreshments for January, and Ann Hanscom and Floy Walberg will do February.

ART BOOK SALE: Joyce Madden has compiled a list of Rachel Neubauer’s books, and that list is enclosed with this newsletter. She cannot bring the books to the meeting, but If you are interested in purchasing any of them, please call her to arrange a date.

MEMBER NEWS: Tony McCrary has been ill but is recovering. He would appreciate cards and letters. Millie Wilner is in Dayton Place and would also like to hear from members.

WEBSITE: We need more members to put their artwork on the DAAG website. Contact Joyce Madden to have your paintings photographed to be put on the website. It costs only $25.00 for six paintings. You can also contact our Webmaster Karl Johnson at karl@colorado-artist.com.

WORKSHOPS: Estelle Petitt is working on having an encaustic workshop in the spring. Watch the newsletters for more information on this.

RESUME BOOK: I will be bringing the resume book to each meeting. Please check your resume and pictures in the book and make changes if you wish. There are resume forms in the book. It is good to keep this book up to date because we show it at some of our shows. Viewers like to see what we have been doing.

REIMBURSEMENT FORMS: If you need reimbursement from the Treasurer, Marsha Williams, please get a reimbursement form.

SPECIAL OCCASION: DAAG will be 50 years old in 2012!! Please start thinking about what we can do to celebrate this most important occasion!! We are open to all suggestions! We celebrated our last anniversary at Racine’s and invited all our past presidents back for the ceremony, and it was a momentous occasion.

It is in the company of a good friend that the heart finds a home.
