GENERAL MEETING: Our General Meeting will be on March 20, 2010 at 9:30 a.m. at Augustana Lutheran Church, 5000 E. Alameda Avenue, on the corner of E. Alameda and South Fairfax in Denver. We meet on the third Saturday of every month except July, August, and December. Come in the east door on Fairfax Street, and you will find us in the big room at the end of the hall. Members please bring friends to our meetings and remember to wear your nametag! If your sign-in number is called and you are wearing your nametag, you will win $5.00!
NOTE: The Board will meet immediately after the General Meeting.
FEBRUARY PROGRAM: Evelyn Martinez gave us a most interesting and informative critique.
MARCH PROGRAM: Joel Cook will do a portrait in oil. He will bring his own model, and it should be a very interesting program.
PLANNED PROGRAMS: Jill Soukup will do an oil demonstration in April, and we will have a critique from Jackie McFarland in May. In June we will have our White Elephant Sale.
SSSSSSHHHHH! Please let us be quiet during our demos and critiques. Our talking is disturbing to our guest artists. Thank you.
EXHIBITS: On Saturday, March 13th at 9:00 a.m. we will hang our show at Montview Presbyterian Church in Denver. Each member can exhibit two paintings at $7.00 each. We will take the show down on Monday, May 17th at noon. There will be no juror and no ribbons. Lynda Klingman will manage this art show.
DAAG SHOW AT AUGUSTANA: DAAG members have a chance to show at Augustana in their upstairs hall next to the offices. You can show 18 to 20 paintings or photographs for 6 weeks, and the show is self-hanging. If you are interested in showing your work, contact LaVeryn Talmage. She has a show going on now. Ardath, Estelle, Pat Newell and Lyle Jencsok are scheduled for next time.
MEMBER NEWS: Our long time member, past president, and friend Mary Lou Rose passed away in February. We were extremely sorry to lose her. Her funeral was February 20th. Ann Hanscom and Floy Walberg are in the Colorado Watercolor Society State Show at Colorado Historical Society. Floy put two paintings in the show and one of them sold and the other won the CWS Executive Award! Congratulations!
REFRESHMENTS: Lyle Jencsok and Tony McCrary will do refreshments for March and Joyce Madden and Carmen Freeman will do them for April. We are now putting our food and paper supplies for refreshments in the closet next to the door. The janitor will unlock the closet for us before the meeting and lock it up afterwards.
WORKSHOPS: There will be an encaustic workshop on March 13th by Camille Scott. It will be from 12:00-3:00 at her studio in Highlands Ranch, and will cost $25.00. Bring your own encaustic materials. Watch the newsletters for more information.
WEBSITE: We need more members to put their artwork on the DAAG website. Contact Joyce Madden to have your paintings photographed to be put on the website. The cost is $25.00 for six paintings. You can also contact our Webmaster Karl Johnson at karl@colorado-artist.com.
RESUME BOOK: The resume book will be at each meeting. Please check your resume and pictures in the book and make changes if you wish. There are resume forms in the book. Please be sure to put photos of your work in the book as well as your resume, but please use only one page. It is good to keep this book up to date because we show it at some of our shows. Viewers like to see what kind of work we are doing.
REIMBURSEMENT FORMS: If you need reimbursement from the Treasurer, Marcia Williams, please use a reimbursement form which you can get from Marcia.
SPECIAL OCCASION: DAAG will be 50 years old in 2012! Please think about what we can do to celebrate this most important occasion! We are open to all suggestions! We celebrated our last anniversary at Racine’s and invited all our past presidents back for the ceremony. It was a momentous occasion, and we should celebrate in a big way for the 50th year!
Let us be grateful to people who make us happy; they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom. (Thank you.)
