GENERAL MEETING: Our General Meeting will be on April 17, 2010 at 9:30 a.m. at Augustana Lutheran Church, 5000 E. Alameda Avenue, on the corner of E. Alameda and South Fairfax in Denver. We meet on the third Saturday of every month except July, August, and December. Come in the east door on Fairfax Street, and you will find us in the big room at the end of the hall. Members please bring friends to our meetings and remember to wear your nametag! If your sign-in number is called and you are wearing your nametag, you will win $5.00!
NOTE: The Board will meet immediately after the General Meeting.
MARCH PROGRAM: Joel Cook painted a beautiful portrait in oil. He talked to us while he was painting, explaining how he handles light on the model and the colors he uses for flesh tones. It was very interesting.
APRIL PROGRAM: Jill Soukup will do an oil demonstration for us. She is a fine artist and she shows her work at many galleries around town.
PLANNED PROGRAMS: We will have a critique from Jackie McFarland in May, and our White Elephant Sale in June. Stay tuned to the newsletter for further information regarding the Sale. It is very interesting to see what members bring in, and there are always wonderful bargains!
SSSSSSSSHHHHHHHH!! Please let us be quiet during our demos and critiques. Our talking is distracting and disturbing to our guest artists. Thank you.
EXHIBITS: Lynda Klingman would like to thank everyone who entered the Montview show. The turnout was excellent with 26 paintings hung. Also, thanks to Ann, Ardath, Marcia, Rosemary, Sharon and Suzie for helping to hang the paintings. We will be having a show at Driscoll in the fall. Watch the newsletters for more information.
DAAG SHOW AT AUGUSTANA: DAAG members have a chance to show their work at Augustana in the upstairs hall next to the offices. You can show solo or with a group, and there is space for 18-20 paintings or photographs. The show will go on for 6 weeks. If you are interested in showing your work at Augustana, contact LaVeryn Talmage. At present Ardath, Estelle, Pat Newell and Lyle Jencsok are hanging their work there.
MEMBER NEWS: Helen Colvert has moved to Alamosa, Colorado. Contact Ann Hanscom or Marion Wright for her new address. Helen would love to hear from you. Patty Harrison, a long time member of DAAG, has just lost her husband and she would appreciate hearing from you. Millie Wilner, also a long time member, has just had her 85th birthday. She would appreciate cards.
REFRESHMENTS: In April Carmen Freeman and Joyce Madden will do refreshments, and in May Nancy Graham and Judy Wroblewski will do them. In June, while we have our white elephant sale, refreshments will be provided by Jeanne Amen and Estelle Petitt.
WORKSHOPS: Six DAAG members went to the encaustic workshop in March and they had a wonderful time. Plans are under consideration for a collage workshop during the summer. Watch the newsletter for more information.
WEBSITE: We need more members to put their artwork on the DAAG Website. Members who already have photos of their artwork on the Website are welcome to change them if they would like. Contact our Webmaster Karl Johnson at karl@colorado-artist.com for more information about the Website and how to change your pictures. If you need to have your work photographed for the Website, contact Joyce Madden.
NOMINATING COMMITTEE: The Nominating Committee has been working hard asking members to sign up to be on next year’s Board, and we will hear about our future Board members at the April meeting. Thanks so much to all who agreed to serve.
RESUME BOOK: The resume book is at every meeting, and we would like to have all our members represented in it. If you have not already done so, please give us a resume and photos of your work so we can put it in the book. Please put in only one page of photos per member because space is limited! If you have been in the book for a while, please feel free to update your resume and photos so we can keep current! Thank you!
SPECIAL OCCASION: DAAG will be 50 years old in 2012! It isn’t too early to be thinking about what we can do to celebrate this most important occasion, and we welcome all suggestions! We are one of the oldest guilds in the area, so please give us your ideas about how we can celebrate!
