GENERAL MEETING: Our General Meeting will be on May 15th, 2010 at 9:30 a.m. at Augustana Lutheran Church, 5000 E. Alameda Avenue, on the corner of E. Alameda and South Fairfax in Denver. We meet on the third Saturday of every month except July, August, and December. Come in the east door on Fairfax Street, and you will find us in the big room at the end of the hall. Members please bring friends to our meetings and remember to wear your nametag! If your sign-in number is called and you are wearing your nametag, you will win $5.00!

NOTE: The Board will meet immediately after the General Meeting.

NOTE TO ALL MEMBERS: Please pay your dues!! If you pay it now you won’t have to worry about it again until next year, and your name will be in the roster!

You can pay Marcia Williams at the May meeting! Thank you!!

APRIL PROGRAM: Jill Soukup did a most interesting oil demonstration for us. She has a great attention to detail and painted a New York landscape.

MAY PROGRAM: Jackie McFarland will do a critique. Members please bring one unframed painting each.

JUNE PROGRAM: We will have our “white elephant” sale. Please bring any art supplies to sell, trade or give away that you no longer want or use. We will discuss this further at the May meeting.

SSSSHHHHHHHHHHHH!! PLEASE let us be quiet during our demos and critiques. If we talk we distract and disturb our guest artist. Thank you.

EXHIBITS: DAAG has a pretty show at Colorado Heights University, which we set up May 5th. If you are showing there, please pay Marcia Williams, Treasurer, at the next meeting, because no money was collected at the show. The cost is $3.00 per painting which will go to DAAG. There will be no commission to the university if you sell your work. Judy Wroblewski is in charge of this exhibit.

MONTVIEW SHOW: Members please pick up your art from Montview Presbyterian Church on Monday, May 17th from 12-12:30. If you can’t be there, please have someone else pick up your work for you.

DAAG SHOW AT AUGUSTANA: DAAG members have a chance to show their work at Augustana in the upstairs hall next to the offices. At present Ardath, Estelle, Pat Newell and Lyle are hanging their work, but they will be taking it down after the May General Meeting. At that time Peggy O’Brien, Helen Buznedo, Marie Sanborn, Karen Zimmerman, and Marion Wright will hang their work. We will hang for two months and take down July 17th. If you are interested in being in the next show, contact LaVeryn Talmage for more information.

DAAG will be having a show in the Driscoll Building at D.U. this fall. The dates are Sunday, September 12th to Saturday, October 2nd. The times are not set yet, but will be in the newsletter. Nancy Graham will be in charge of this exhibit.

Nancy Graham is checking into having an exhibit at the “Empty Bottle”, a wine store at the corner of Jewell and Pearl. Watch the newsletter for more information.

WORKSHOPS: We might have a collage workshop during the summer. This will be discussed at the next two meetings, and more information will be in the June newsletter.

MEMBER NEWS: Floy Walberg and Rosemary Weiler sold paintings at the Montview Presbyterian show.

REFRESHMENTS: Nancy Graham and Judy Wroblewski will do refreshments in May and Estelle Pettit and Jeanne Amen will do them in June.

WEBSITE: We need more members to put their work on the website. There is plenty of room! Also, members who already have work on the website can change their pictures. Just contact our Webmaster Karl Johnson for more information about the website and how to do it! If you need to have your work photographed for the website, contact Joyce Madden.

NEW BOARD: At the May meeting we will vote for the new Board, and they will be installed at the June meeting. The new Board will be as follows: President: Rosemary Weiler: Vice President/Programs: Estelle Pettit; Recording Secretary: Lyle Jencsok; Corresponding Secretary: Mary Beth Kreizel; Treasurer: Marcia Williams; Membership: Sharon Hann; Exhibits: Lynda Klingman, Nancy Graham, and Judy Wroblewski; History Book: Jeanne Amen; Refreshments: Helen Buznedo and Peggy O’Brien; and Resume Book: Sherrie Gunnell. Thanks so much for the Nominating Committee who did an excellent job! NOTE: There will be an Old Board-New Board potluck lunch at Ann Hanscom’s house on July 29th.

NEWSLETTER ATTACHMENT: There is an attachment to this newsletter that is quite important and definitely timely. This came from Susan McKelvy, a member of the Pastel Society of Colorado who had an encounter with a buyer who turned out to be less than honest. The article, entitled “Fleecing Lessons” was in their May/June Newsletter.

See the world. It’s more fantastic than any dream made or paid for in factories.
