GENERAL MEETING: Our General Meeting will be on June 19, 2010 at 9:30 a.m. at Augustana Lutheran Church, 5000 E. Alameda Avenue, on the corner of East Alameda and South Fairfax in Denver. We meet on the third Saturday of every month except July, August, and December. Come in through the east door on Fairfax Street, and you will find us in the big room at the end of the hall. Members please bring friends to our meetings and remember to wear your nametag! If your sign-in number is called and you are wearing your nametag, you will win $5.00!

MEMBERS PLEASE PAY YOUR DUES so your name will be in the roster! Those members who wish to have the newsletter mailed to them pay $40.00, and those who want it sent by E-mail pay $35.00.

SSSSSSHHHH! Please remember to be quiet and not talk during our demonstrations and critiques. Talking is so very distracting to our guests! Thank you!!

MAY PROGRAM: Jackie McFarland gave us a fine critique. She had excellent suggestions for us to improve our paintings.

JUNE PROGRAM: Our “program” will be a “White Elephant” sale! Please bring your art supplies that you aren’t using any more and you can trade, sell, or give them away to someone who can use them! It is always amazing to see what people bring in, and in the past we have had magazines, art easels, mat board, paints, brushes, old frames, and even a set of desk lamps!

INSTALLATION OF THE NEW BOARD: At the June Program we will install the new Board. The new Board members will be as follows: President: Rosemary Weiler; Vice President: Estelle Petitt; Recording Secretary: Lyle Jencsok; Corresponding Secretary: Mary Beth Kreizel; Treasurer: Marcia Williams;  Exhibits Chairmen: Nancy Graham and Lynda Klingman. Historian: Jeanne Amen; Refreshments: Helen Buznedo; and Resume Book: Sherrie Gunnell.

EXHIBITS: DAAG has a pretty show at Colorado Heights University, which we set up May 5th. If you are showing there and have not yet paid, please pay Marcia Williams, Treasurer, at the next meeting. The cost is $3.00 per painting which will go to DAAG. There is no commission. If you need to remove your painting(s) from this show, please contact Felicia Goette regarding permission to take your paintings. You can get her phone number from Ardath.

DAAG SHOW AT AUGUSTANA: Helen Buznedo, Peggy O’Brien, Marie Sanborn, Karyn Zimmerman, and Marion Wright were scheduled to hang at Augustana through the summer, but the show was canceled. DAAG members will be encouraged to show there in the fall.

D.U. EXHIBIT: We will have an exhibit at Driscoll Center at D.U. on September 12th . We will hang this show from 12:00 to 1:00 and take it down October 2nd from 10:00 to 11:00. The fee will be $7.00 per painting. There will be more information at the June meeting.

EMPTY BOTTLE ART EXHIBIT: Nancy Graham is working on a show at The Empty Bottle, which is at S. Pearl and Jewell. They have a nice space to show paintings and there is plenty of walk-through traffic. Show dates have not been set up yet, but there will be more information at the June meeting.

OLD AND NEW BOARD MEETING: There will be a salad potluck lunch for the old and new Boards at Ann Hanscom’s house July 29th at 11 a.m. We will be transferring jobs at this meeting, so old Board members bring your records to give to the new Board members. Also please call Ann to let her know if you can attend and to find out what to bring for lunch.

REFRESHMENTS: Jeanne Amen and Estelle Petitt will do refreshments for June and Rosemary Weiler and Sherrie Gunnell will do them in September.

MEMBER NEWS: Our dear friend and long time DAAG member Millie Wilner passed away Saturday, June 5th after a long illness. Her graveside service took place June 7th at 3:00 at Fairmount and the service was at 4:00 at Temple Emanuel. Also, Rosemary McGibbon fell in her house on May 23rd and broke her arm. Class is an aura of self confidence without being cocky. Class has nothing to do with money. Class never runs scared. It is a self discipline and self knowledge. It’s the sure footedness that comes with having proved you can meet life.
